Glow Up: Mastering Bronzer and Highlighter Application
In this episode Sarah and Dr. Megan are diving into the world of makeup and Sarah is doing her first makeup tutorial on Platinum Prescriptive!
The duo are getting into how to use bronzer, luminizer, highlighter and illuminators. Specifically, they share how to use the new Hourglass Ambient Light Palette. Hourglass releases special edition palettes every holiday season, this year they were especially gorgeous. Featuring designing with golds and rose golds, with a jellyfish, Snake, Owl, or Leopard with a customization aspect. In this limited-edition palette including one new Ambient Lighting shade to create your perfect light, featuring packaging by artist Katie Scott. This palette includes five bestselling shades—one finishing powder, two blushes, one bronzer, and one highlighter—along with one brand-new shade of blush to diffuse, enhance, and add glow to the complexion. Hourglass will donate five percent of annual profits from this collection to the Nonhuman Rights Project.
Lluminizer gives structure to the face, it helps light reflect on elevated areas of your face like the bridge of your nose, cheekbones and the center of your eyelids. Can come in liquid in pump form, or with a doe foot or pressed or loose powder.
Highlighters are used on the highest points of the face and areas you want to pop and stand out more, like the corner of your eye. Comes in cream, powder and liquid (often the words are interchangeable and depends on what the brand prefers).
Illuminators are to add an overall luminous glow to your face that is a bit more natural and subtle. This product comes in a primer form often to add glow all over the face before foundation application. Also, cream and powder.
Luminizers and highlighters will sharpen your look, illuminators will give a blurred overall glow. All are like a magic wand that adds radiance to your complexion.
Bronzer is your secret weapon for adding warmth and dimension to your face. It's like a mini vacation in a compact. For bronzer, you want a shade that's about two shades darker than your skin tone. The Hourglass palette we're using today has a perfect bronzer shade! Using a fluffy brush, like this one, dip it into the bronzer, tap off the excess, and apply it where the sun naturally hits your face - your forehead, cheekbones, and a light dusting on your jawline and neck. Shape of a 3! It's all about creating that sun-kissed glow. While foundation is a beautiful product, it takes the color out of where we want to have color, so bronzer puts that back in!
